Teacher's comments

"There is a lot to like about your covers. You have clearly thought about sell lines and attempted to create a cohesive house style, especially with the colour scheme. However, while the Kendrick Lamar cover is powerful, the other one is not as strong. It may be due to image choice, but really think about the unevenness if you undertake a similar task for your full coursework.

Contents pages need some work. Think very carefully about using columns and some of the other features like slim lines to draw the eye around the page." -Layout and design task

Coursework Statement Of Intents

Statement Of Intents
Covers and Contents
While researching magazine covers for my coursework I came across similar codes and conventions throughout, I intend to use various different interesting fonts at different sizes, and use a powerful picture on my cover to draw the audience's attention towards this person and the story surrounding them. By asking different people in my school year and the year below I've come to the conclusion
that 16-25 year olds mostly prefer covers from magazines such as clash and GQ these largely feature one model in a close-up shot, this is why I chose to do so. The clash of colors on an Esquire magazine I've seen will inspire the color of the text I will feature on my magazines. I have also decided that I will use a red color filter on my photo to create a sense of anger and edginess to one of my models. I also notice my target audience want a variety of different stories featuring all types of entertainment with the main ones being Music, Film and Tv, this is why I intend to do a cover on music and another on film.
Website
I intend to use a different style for my website, keeping it simplistic while using different pictures of my cover and contents models throughout. I will take inspiration from billboard magazines website using boxes on the home page to feature different stories about various entertainment issues and interests. The website will feature a page for music, film and Tv as my target audience prefer to have an equal balance of all three. My audio-visual element to my work will see a video of my main model being explained as the video persuades people to buy the subscription.
How I have created a set of Cohesive Products
By using the same font of my slogan and title of magazine I will attempt to create a link between my magazines and my website. The use of a object or icon I will try to create a brand logo to be recognized and instantly connected to my magazine. I shall also feature my website's link on my magazine cover in order to get my audience to explore more about my magazine and get engrossed within my website.
